I was sleeping soundly
but suddenly had a very vivid dream. In the dream I was in a house; not the
house I lived in, but one that in my dream was my residence. I heard a knock at
the door and answered it. To my surprise when I opened the door I was met by
Fred. (Fred was a fellow police officer who trained me when I came on the
department. We had a friendly and professional relationship and I always
respected Fred. Unfortunately, Fred contracted lung cancer and died within a
year of being diagnosed. I had seen Fred lose about 90 pounds during the
illness and age well past his 54 years of age. He had always been a very robust
individual who kept himself in great shape. When Fred died I was saddened but
not devastated as we were not close friends.) When I saw Fred at the door he
was the picture of great health; his hair was thick and black, he was his robust
self, and looked about 35 years of age. He was dressed in a police uniform that
was a standard uniform but also in pristine condition. Although there were some
other individuals standing to his rear, I didn't recognize any of them or pay
too much heed. I greeted Fred excitedly and happily like one would greet any
friend that you hadn't seen in a long time. We exchanged some pleasantries but
suddenly Fred's demeanor changed to something much more serious. Fred told me
that he had come to tell me some very bad news. I grew concerned and asked Fred
what the news was. Fred then told me that he now couldn't tell me. I was taken
aback and kept asking him what the news was growing more frantic. Fred then
told me that he could not tell me the news but I would know in three days. He
began to walk away as I woke up. I was somewhat upset for a short time about
the dream but went back to sleep a short time later. Three nights after this
dream, almost at the same hour, I got a call from my department. I was told
that an officer on my shift had suffered a heart attack while at worked and had
passed away. My mind raced immediately back to my dream and I knew this was the
news that Fred came to give me.

It was during a dream and seemed like normal verbal communication.

Is
there any possibility what you felt was from any other source present in the

Great looking,
sharply dressed, healthy. About 35 years of age. I even commented on how well
he looked.
How
clearly did the deceased appear?
Completely normal in
everyway.
How
much of the deceased did you see?
Whole body.

there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in the
surroundings at the time of your experience?
No
Did you smell a
distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?
No
How long did the
experience last?
It is hard to
put a time on a dream but the encounter would have lasted just a few minutes in
real time.
Was the beginning
and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?
I suppose the
beginning was the knock on the door, and the end when the deceased started to
walk away.
Could you sense the
emotions or mood of the deceased?
Yes
At first very happy
to see me. Later serious and then somewhat conflicted about the information he
came to give me. Kind of like he initially was going to tell me this outright
but had second thoughts.
Did the deceased
give you information you did not previously know?
Yes, the
information that in three days I would know the bad news. In almost three days
to the minute, I got very bad news.
How do you currently view the reality of your experience?
Experience was
definitely real
Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not
real:
Very vivid dream that I remember to this day in great detail, including the
emotions involved. I don't usually remember dreams very well and can only thing
of one other that was ever this real.
Was
the experience dream like in any way?
Yes
I was asleep and
dreaming.
Describe in
detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:
First great joy at
meeting an old fried. Later concern over what the bad news was the Fred was
going to tell me.
Was there any
emotional healing in any way following the experience?
No
What was the best
and worst part of your experience?
The joy of seeing Fred,
the bad news he came with.
Has your life
changed specifically as a result of your experience?
No
Did you have
any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
Uncertain
Somewhat, although I have always believed in an afterlife and that events will
unfold as they are meant to.
Did the experience
give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God,
etc.?
No
Death Compacts
are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever dies
first will try to contact the other(s). Have you ever made such a compact?
No
Did you observe or
hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be
verified later?
Just the bad news.
What emotions did
you feel during the experience?
Surprised that meeting
someone who had been dead for several years did not seem at all strange or
frightening. Still concerned about the bad news but also wondered why Fred
changed his mind and would not tell me outright.
Was the experience
witnessed or experienced by others?
No
Did you have any
sense of altered space or time?
No
Did you have a
sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?
No
Unfortunately.
Did you become
aware of future events?
Uncertain
Nothing like Jean
Dixon, but everything seems to be unfolding as it was meant to be both on a
personal level and world affairs in general.
Did you have any
psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did
not have prior to the experience?
Uncertain
Although it seems I
might, I try to push these types of feelings into the background. It is hard
enough coping with the present without worrying about what is around the
corner. I feel that if I let myself, I would have above normal abilities in
these areas.
Did you experience
a separation of your consciousness from your body?
No
Did you meet or see
any other beings other than the deceased?
Yes
Yes, Fred was with
several other people in civilian clothes that were standing to his rear. I
attached no particular significance to them and really paid little attention to
what they even looked like other than normal people standing around.
Did you see a
light?
No
Did any part of
your experience seem to occur in a place other than the location described
above?
No
Have you shared
this experience with others?
Yes
With close friends who are open minded, good listeners, and non judgmental.
Have you shared
this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?
No
Is there anything
else you would like to add regarding your experience?
It is what it is, but
the story I have related is absolutely truthful.
Were there any
associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the
experience?
No
Following the
experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or
substances which reproduced any part of the experience?
No
Did you ever in
your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other
spiritual event?
Yes
I had another dream
just a few years ago. My mother was in failing health and my wife and I were
struggling to keep her in her own home and out of nursing care. We were under
great stress that was not being made any easier by conflicts with my brothers
who were at odds. One brother was insistent that she be put in a nursing home.
I was also very stressed about my mother's finances at the time. During a dream
I was walking down a city street when I was passed by someone who I immediately
recognized as my father who had been deceased for approx. 10 years. My father
look extremely healthy, fit, and about 35 years old. His hair was thick and
black with no signs of being ravaged by the colon cancer he died of. My father
was 69 when he passed on. Anyway, he looked at me as we passed and just gave me
a very nice smile and nod. I took this as a sign that we were doing ok and to
hang in there. Shortly thereafter my mother passed on.
Did the questions
asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your
experience?
Yes
Please offer any
suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire.
You seem to do a very
good job
