It was 3 weeks after my
husband died. My sister had been staying with me, but went home the day before
my experience. I woke up about 3 am. I was crying and felt terrible. I kept
talking to Charlie, and saying that I wanted to be with him so badly. I was
hysterical. Finally I calmed down, and tried to get back to sleep. I started to
fall asleep at about 4:30 am. Suddenly the TV in our bedroom turned on all by
itself, and as I partially sat up and looked at the screen, it said love across
the screen in big pink letters. It felt to me like I had just gotten a message
from Charlie, that he still existed, and that he still loved me.
Was this experience
difficult to express in words?
No
Did you ONLY sense
an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing,
feeling or smelling them?
Yes
Did you hear the
deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?
No
Did you feel a
touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?
No
Did you see the
deceased?
No
Did you smell a
distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?
No
How long did the
experience last?
a few seconds
Was the beginning
and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?
sudden
Could you sense the
emotions or mood of the deceased?
Yes
it felt like
something Charlie would do, I felt like he was trying to reassure me
Did the deceased
give you information you did not previously know?
no, I thought he
was just letting me know he still loved me
How do you
currently view the reality of your experience?
Experience was
definitely real
Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not
real:
sometimes I still
question if the TV communication was from Charlie, or if something else caused
the TV to turn on. Later I saw a TV commercial for a Makeup, that used the same
word love, in pink letters, at the start of the commercial. It was just like the
word love, in pink letters, like I saw the night of my experience. I am usually
skeptical about things that I can't prove. Charlie knows that about me.
Was
the experience dream like in any way?
No
Was there any
emotional healing in any way following the experience?
Yes
for a while I was
feeling good, and then I started wondering if I was wrong, and something else
caused the experience
What was the best
and worst part of your experience?
The best part is that I
believe now that there is at least a possibility that I will see Charlie again.
The worst part is that I still have some lingering doubt. I don't know for sure
that Charlie caused the TV to turn on. I am a skeptic, I would love to have
proof beyond a shadow of a doubt.
Has your life
changed specifically as a result of your experience?
Yes
I look for signs from
Charlie regularly. I am more focused on the possibility of life after death now.
reading about other people's NDEs, and ADCs makes me feel better. I want there
to be serious research about this subject, because I now see that an answer to
the life after death question, is critical to our existence. I never even cared
about life after death at all, until I realized that it was a viable
possibility. Now I love the subject, and I want the scientific community to
embrace this subject, and take it seriously.
What other attitudes and beliefs about your experience do you currently have?
I want to believe that it was a real communication from Charlie because it
felt like it was, but I do sometime have lingering doubt
Did you have
any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
Yes
I believe there is a strong possibility that there is life after death now
Did the experience
give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God,
etc.?
Yes
It made me believe that life after death really does exist.
Death Compacts
are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever dies
first will try to contact the other(s). Have you ever made such a
compact?
No
Did you observe or
hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be
verified later?
No
I checked the TV to see if there was anything wrong with it. I checked to see if
the TV dish was functioning properly, and none of the other TV's in the house
had turned on at that time, Every thing checked out okay, so I have no
explanation for why the TV turned on by itself, with love written across the
screen. Charlie and I did not get to say goodbye to each other. We did not get
to tell each other how much we love each other. I think Charlie was telling me
to hang on, because we will see each other again.
