I suddenly find myself back in time around 1940's Boston, MA.
It was as
if I was a bystander just watching what was going on (like watching a movie). I
see both my grandfather and my Aunt Marie (my mother's sister), and I see them
both appear young and flashing back to what they currently look like ( I think
so that I could be certain of whom I was seeing and knew who they were). Also,
I was aware of how they both were feeling at that time, as if I was there
experiencing this memory( I felt like both a daughter and a father). They were
walking along the streets of Boston, as if it was simple routine that they did
on weekly or monthly basis. We would go into certain stores and businesses, I
think to pay some bills. One place in particular stuck out in my mind a store
named "Osgoods", a family owned appliance store. My grandfather was making a
payment on a television, (the early days of the first television). My
grandfather was always fond of his TV, because he was the first generation to
have experienced it. My Aunt was about 4yrs old, she was wearing a blue dress
with a blue gingham ribbon tied around her long dark curly hair. My Grandfather
liked to dress her up to show everyone his "Princess" Marie, as they walked
around the town. My grandfather had my Aunt convinced that she was actually a
princess. The last part of this experience was my Aunt and Grandfather walking
hand-in-hand eating a vanilla ice cream cone, which they always shared after
there walk to the stores. They were at the end of the sidewalk where a traffic
light was, waiting to cross the street, the next thing I know this bright, warm,
loving light envelops them (at the same time I am feeling this) and my
grandfather's arms become bigger and bigger and embraces my Aunt bringing even
more love and warmth and then a bright flash of light appears and suddenly I am
back to the dream that was going on before this experience. I wake the next
morning and I remember this "dream", and I tell my Mom about it over breakfast.
Later that day, my Mom calls my Aunt and tells her about my dream. My Aunt is
shocked by this, and tells my Mom that she was having those same memories all
day long while she was working. She also remembers that same appliance store,
and she verified that the store was named "Osgoods". I feel that my Grandfather
was able to communicate with me, to help my Aunt understand that he too,
remembers the times they shared together, that even though he was no longer
alive in the physical sense, but that he was still alive spiritually. Also, to
show that every time we remember times with him, he is also remembering at the
same time.
