My first encounter with the paranormal was when I was 4 or 5 years old. I had arrived at the Sand Springs Home on what I remember as a dreary day, my mother had just been murdered and my whole life was taking a drastic change. Since I was so young everything seems as a blur now, but I'll never forget what happened to me on my first day at the Home.
I was being shown the downstairs of the Home by two ladies who worked for the Home and a boy my age named Jack who they had selected to show me around the boys floor after they'd shown me the dining room and the living room, those two rooms took up the whole downstairs. The living room contained the offices of the people who supervised the Home and the office of Charles Page, the man who had founded and built the Home. They unlocked the door to Charles Page's office and we all went in so they could show it to me. There was a man sitting behind the desk smiling at me, he had his hands folded in front of him and he didn't say a word, he just smiled at me. Nobody else acted like they could see him, nobody said hi to him, they just acted like he wasn't in the room. When we left the room I asked Jack who the man sitting behind the desk was and he replied that there wasn't any man sitting behind the desk.
When we got to the
second floor where the boy's floor was he showed me the bedroom where all the
boys slept. Up on the entrance wall to the bedroom was a picture of the man I
had just seen sitting behind the desk in Charles page's office. I said, "There's
the man I saw downstairs sitting behind the desk", Jack replied, "That's Charles
Page, he's been dead for fifty years and you couldn't have seen him".
Was this
experience difficult to express in words?
No
Did you ONLY sense
an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing,
feeling or smelling them?
No
Did you hear the
deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?
No
Did you feel a
touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?
No
Did you see the
deceased?
Yes
He looked exactly
they he did in his pictures.
How
clearly did the deceased appear?
As solid as a live
person.
How
much of the deceased did you see?
He was sitting behind a
desk so I couldn't see his legs or waist area.
Did
the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?
He appeared the same
age as in most of the pictures I saw of him, somewhere in his 50's I'd say.
How
healthy did the deceased appear to be?
He appeared to be very
healthy. He was a big Scotsman and always healthy I'm told until he contracted
the pneumonia.
Is
there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in the
surroundings at the time of your experience?
No. No way.
Did you smell a
distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?
No
How do you
currently view the reality of your experience?
Experience was
definitely real
Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not
real:
The only thing I can say is that I saw him just plain as day.
Was
the experience dream like in any way?
No
Describe in detail
your feelings/emotions during the experience:
Well, it's been along
time but I'm sure I was upset about my mother being gone and I was scared
because the home was really big to a small child. and my first day there was
rainy and dreary
Was there any
emotional healing in any way following the experience?
No
What was the best
and worst part of your experience?
All my experiences have
been good.
Has your life
changed specifically as a result of your experience?
Yes
Describe:
Not in any
definite way that I know of, because I've been affected by these occurrences
since I was young so I don't know if things would have been different if they
had never happened to me.
What other attitudes and beliefs about your experience do you currently have?
Other belief
I was lucky it happened so young in my life because after I started to learn
about religion and such it gave me something to think about and having something
as solid as this experience to guide me and let me know for certain that there
is life after death. It also gave me hope that my mother is alright and I will
see her again someday.
Did you have
any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
Yes
Yes ,I began realizing things are just not as physical as they seem.
Did the experience
give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God,
etc.?
Yes
Yes. After I grew up a little I knew there was life after death and there is a
God.
Death Compacts
are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever dies
first will try to contact the other(s). Have you ever made such a
compact?
Yes
My sister made one
with me but were both still alive. No, he died before I was born.
Did you observe or
hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be
verified later?
No
What emotions
did you feel during the experience?
I was kind of scared
when I realized nobody else had seen him but I thought it was kind of neat also.
Was the experience
witnessed or experienced by others?
Yes
Two ladies who
worked at the Home and a boy from the floor I was going to live on were there
but they didn't see anything
Did you have any
sense of altered space or time?
No
Did you have a
sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?
No
Did you become
aware of future events?
No
Did you have any
psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did
not have prior to the experience?
Yes
I don't know if the
events are connected but I've two experiences with the Holy Spirit. Once during
a laying on of hands the Holy Spirit came with a rushing sound of wind into the
room and I talked in the ancient biblical language of Aramaic. Another time I
was sitting watching TV when the Holy Spirit came in the room suddenly and laid
down a bridge between me and a friend and my thoughts were walking on the bridge
in the form of people and she read my mind ( I was thinking about a girl I had
just broken up with). My friend did not see the Holy Spirit or the bridge as I
did, she just read my mind without seeing anything else. Both times the Holy
Spirit looked like a ball of orange-ish energy and it appeared to be the same
energy both times. I have to say though that I did not see it with my physical
eyes but with spiritual eyes. I've had spirits living in my house. One time an
empty Dasani water bottle flew up into the air off the table right in front of
me, my children have a lot of stories of experiences with spirits in our house.
I've also have seen a lot of U.F.O's.
Did you experience
a separation of your consciousness from your body?
No
Did you meet or see
any other beings other than the deceased?
No
Did you see a
light?
No
Did any part of
your experience seem to occur in a place other than the location described
above?
No
Have you shared
this experience with others?
Yes
Well, you know a lot of people think your crazy. I don't think anyone was
influenced by it except to think I'm crazier than they thought I was.
Have you shared
this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web
site?
Yes
This is the first
time I've put down this much for a website but I do have my OBE listed on the
OBERF site that I tell about my OBE when I met God. It's listed under Robert D's
experience and it's still listed under their Newest Experiences.
Is there anything
else you would like to add regarding your experience?
If I were talking to
you I could but typing it all out is a drag.
Were there any
associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the
experience?
No
Following the
experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or
substances which reproduced any part of the experience?
Yes
I took LSD a lot
when I was younger and had several experiences when I peaked that I understood
everything was God.
Did you ever in
your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other
spiritual event?
Yes
Yes, it's listed on
the OBERF site.
Did the questions
asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your
experience?
Yes
Well, I can't
comprehensively describe everything that's happened to me as typing it all out
is a drag. I could go on for hours about the UFO's and other things I've seen. I
really like to tell people about my OBE when I saw God.
Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire. I have none.
