I was in the funeral procession, heading towards the cemetery. There were at least 5 or 6 other people in the car.  I was in the back seat.  We came upon the train tracks and lo and behold a long freight train was blocking our way.  I initially had a negative reaction and a few expletives, then suddenly I became aware that this was the best thing that could have happened because I got a little more time before we had to commit my Mom to the cold earth.

Suddenly I became aware of the following message:  my Mom was put on this earth to have six kids.  (My brother died 133 days before my Mom died.)  She raised all 6 and her youngest son was now dead and she had completed her mission for being on earth.  Now she would be joining her son, husband and her own mother, who died 9 months before she did.

At that point, I understood it all and it was so comforting, allowing me some peace.

Was the experience difficult to express in words?     Yes   There was no being present that I could see.  The message was more or less somehow communicated to me.

Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them? Yes 

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?   No                                                         

Did you see the deceased?   No                                          

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?   No    

Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?   The information had never crossed my mind before and I guess she wanted me to be aware.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?    Experience was definitely real    The experience seemed to answer the "why" my Mom had to die as young as she was...63.

Was the experience dream like in any way?    No   

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?    Uncertain    I'm not willing to say I was emotionally healed, more like a little bit of closure that would help my healing.

What was the best and worst part of your experience?    The best part was the sense of relief and understanding.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?    No        

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?    No   

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?    Yes    I became aware that we are all put on this earth to complete a mission and once our mission has been fulfilled we will go to the afterlife.

Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be verified later?   No

Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?    No   

Did you have any sense of altered space or time?       No   

Did you have a sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?        Yes    Explained in #3.

Did you become aware of future events?           No   

Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the experience?     Yes    My brother died several months before my Mom. He was a great chef.  After my Mom died, a number of times while cooking at home I would feel a very warm sensation in my upper arm while preparing a recipe.

Did you experience a separation of your consciousness from your body?    No   

Did you meet or see any other beings other than the deceased?    No   

Did you see a light?    No   

Did any part of your experience seem to occur in a place other than the location described above?   No   

Have you shared this experience with others?    Yes    The reactions have been intense listening with no comments.

Have you shared this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?    No   

Is there anything else you would like to add regarding your experience?    no

Were there any associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the experience?    No   

Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?   No   

Did you ever in your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other spiritual event?      Yes    I have had several other events I'd like to report and may do so on a different form.
