Integration experience
Experience description 2453:
All this happened 3 times on the day of Tom's passing:
After kissing Tom and him leaving for the day, I usually said, I love you, have
a nice day, BE SAFE. That morning I feel urgently compelled to open the door
after he was going to his car and told him to PLEASE be safe! I never did or
felt this urgency to emphasize this before. I took a nap for a few hours and
upon waking had a lucid thought pop into my head that he was going to die. So
shocking to me that I brushed it off as crazy.
While getting groceries for dinner that day I heard another thought pop in my
head that he was going to die. Again, I brushed it off trying to carry on for
the day. That was around 3:30pm. He died an hour later. 4.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION 2454:
1st experience: As I was crying on my bed, laying on my side, a clear image of a
memory of Tom came into my head, something I didn't remember (and have terrible
recall unless reminded), then a strong feeling in my gut followed - like a
pulling sensation or great anxiety. I then felt tingling, like light electrical
tickles along my back side, legs and arm that was facing away from the bed. I
knew by the precursor memory and my bodily reactions it was Tom. I heard in my
mind's voice, 'Baby I'm right here'. He told me to just breathe. As I did the
breathing out of my mouth to calm down my gut feelings, blowing out of my mouth
while trying to feel him. I closed my eyes to reach him, telling him I was
trying my best to reach him. I fell asleep within 30 seconds of saying this to
him.
Later that night, my oldest daughter was sleeping on Tom's side of the bed. She
had moved in with me due to her current marital problems. I had yet another bad
dream that night with someone threatening me with knives, guns, or me running
from something or someone. I woke up to shake it off but laid still in the bed
to not disturb my daughter. A minute later my daughter woke up saying to me,
'MOM!', startling me with her tone, as if someone was breaking into the house. I
answered her, 'what?' She said, are you calling spirits or something? I said
only Tom but otherwise I don't do that kind of stuff, why? She said I feel
someone in the room and it's not Tom and tell them to leave so they don't freak
out my kids. I said well I don't feel anything and how could you be so certain
it isn't Tom? She said, I don't know, but either way, I feel something in the
room and it's freaking me out. So I suggested we get up and have tea. 4am. I
requested Tom leave for the time being to help ease her mind.
2nd experience: I was in the shower, remembering how Tom always hopped in there
with me, peeking first to see if it was ok to join me. I was remembering that
but in a new way....as if he was actually there, clearly in my minds eye. Was
that me in the state of grief? Or was that him joining in that memory? I don't
see these things the same way anymore knowing there is so much more that we
can't measure or understand. Anyway, I started crying. After a few moments I
felt the warmth of my head in his chest so profoundly that when I closed my eyes
it felt just like him when he would hold me in the shower with his arms around
me, even though my head and hands were butted up against the cold tiling.
Was this experience difficult to express in words?
Yes
Uncertain and intimate in describing the thoughts, feelings and
conversations between us. Hard to describe the feelings both emotionally and
physically.
Did you hear the deceased or hear something
associated with the deceased?
No
Did you feel a touch or experience any physical
contact from the deceased?
Yes
1st: I felt tingling like soft electrical down the back side of my body,
arms and legs.
2nd: I felt the warmth of his chest on my cheek, chest and
arms like I was being wrapped in his arms.
Was the touch familiar or unfamiliar?
Very familiar. He would lay with me that way - his front to my back; in the
shower we would always hug like that while letting the water hit my back.
Was anything communicated by the touch?
Love, comfort, care, tenderness, safety, compassion. Him letting me know he's
with me and understands how his leaving has impacted my feelings of loss, me,
and my life.
Is there any possibility what you felt was from any other source present in
the surroundings at the time of your experience?
Absolutely not.
Did you see the deceased?
No
Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance
or odor associated with the deceased?
No
How long did the experience last?
1st lasted about 4-5
minutes.
2nd lasted about 2 minutes
Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?
Both experiences were gradual.
Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?
Yes
I felt his compassion and need to comfort me.
Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?
Yes, that he is capable of breaking the physical barrier between us to convey to
me that he is still here.
How do you currently view the reality of your experience?
Experience was
definitely real
Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not
real:
I know what I felt physically, saw in my mind's eye
that I never experienced before in any way, shape or form. It was too strong to
think it was 'just my imagination' or 'wishful thinking'. I know that
difference. My mind was in no way imagining or hoping that he could or would
come to me in those ways.
Was the experience dream like in any way?
No
Describe in detail
your feelings/emotions during the experience:
Sadness in me. Comforted and soothed by him.
Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?
Uncertain
I was still sad, but it was lifting and bringing me comfort I needed from
him, that only he could give me.
What was the best and worst part of your experience?
Best: I felt Tom seems determined to reach me in more significant ways,
unhindered by any physical bounds (often saying he's learning new parlor tricks
- it's how I joke with him)
Worst: I miss him like I miss part of my soul being ripped from my being, left
with a raw gaping hole that won't be healed until we are together again.
Has your life changed specifically as a result of
your experience?
Yes
Describe:
In my quest to understand Tom's love for me, I am being prodded to understand
how important it is to love those that we share life with, and the love within
and for ourselves is just as important. I have more questions than answers now,
trusting my intuition more, and feeling compelled to delve deeply into personal
experiences of OBE to be with Tom while we exist in separate dimensions.
Did you have any
changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
Yes That love has
such great power, most people don't understand how it can change us and goes
beyond our perceived world views, beliefs or religions, mine included. It's a
powerful force of the heart and souls of each of us. I could say those words
before, but now I know them and continue to be amazed at its far-reaching
capabilities.
Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life,
death, afterlife, God, etc.?
Yes I realized
that love does not apply any rules or rationale of what people think or believe.
That our spirituality is merely the great love we all have in our souls. It's a
universal language regardless of our beliefs. I realized that in spite of how
people say the deceased go to heaven, they are right there at all times if we
need them. They watch us, guard us, comfort us, help us heal, and understand our
plight of slogging through mud and quick sand in this earth plane of existence.
Our souls are eternal and not removed away from us except by the limitations of
our senses. I also realized that I'm envious of my deceased husband for being in
the better place than me on earth. I know there is a God now, but I questioned
this whole set up and strived to get a better understanding so I wouldn't feel
so cheated out on being with Tom.
Death Compacts are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever
dies first will try to contact the other(s).
Have you ever made such a compact?
Yes
He said he would stalk me (meaning find me no matter what), and I said I
would go through heaven and hell to find him.
Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your
experience that could be verified later?
No
What emotions did you
feel during the experience?
I felt at ease knowing he is still around, somewhat relieved. Sadness stayed
with me.
Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?
No
Did you have any sense of altered space or time?
Yes
The bed experience: when he was holding me and I closed my eyes while
feeling him and to reach him, I felt like I was looking into a clear blackness
to that was piercing a veil of consciousness. I fell asleep right after that.
Did you have a sense of knowing, special
knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?
No
Did you become aware of future events?
No
Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other
special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the
experience?
Yes
Being sensitive to people's intentions, and what real love is/does to us
when we feel and experience it beyond our human understanding.
Did you experience a separation of your
consciousness from your body?
Yes
When he was holding me in bed, I fell asleep immediately. I haven't done
that before or since, except once when I was 5 yrs old and physically visited by
a 7'+ tall being who put his head to mine.
Did you meet or see any other beings other than the deceased?
No
Did you see a light?
No
Did any part of your experience seem to occur in a
place other than the location described above?
No
Have you shared this experience with others?
No
Have you shared this
experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?
No
Is there anything else you would
like to add regarding your experience?
I have more experiences, to follow.
Were there any associated medications or substances with the
potential to affect the experience?
No
Following the experience, have you had any other events in your life,
medications or substances which reproduced any part of the experience?
No
Did you ever in your life have a near-death experience, out of body
experience or other spiritual event?
Yes
Dreams, synchronicities, perceptions, messages, images and visions.
Intermittently over my life. Not consistent, but there.
Had a physical visitor come to me around 5 years old. Not the
imaginings of a child because of how analytical and lucid I was/am. In fact, the
way he looked was a reminder of a taller version of Tom, who I met when I was 43
yrs old. No one seemed to interested in helping me know who that being was or
why he came to me. And both of them were able to make me fall asleep on a
dime...the only 2 times this has happened to me in my life.
Did the questions asked and information you
provided accurately and comprehensively describe your experience?
Yes
Please offer any suggestions you may have to
improve this questionnaire.
Maybe add the word 'intimate' to feelings of what we felt
before or after the experience. It felt more intimate to me. But sacred came
close.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION 2455:
1st experience: Driving from the funeral home and a large flock of birds landed
across a 4 lane road. We had to stop the car. My daughter pushed the car gently
forward but the birds only moved a little. She did this 3 more times while
rolling the vehicle until the birds finally left. My husband was a Navajo and we
had talked of the meanings of some birds, especially owls. He said owls were a
bad omen for Navajos, meaning death or accident, but he didn't believe in that,
and NEVER tell his mother if you see an owl, that would start her fear/worry
tirade.
2nd experience: The night after coming back home in Texas from arranging Tom's
cremation in Arkansas, my children and I (all grown) noticed an owl staying
around our yard, hooting. We live just outside a major city so we are surrounded
by neighbors and fences. The owl came out nightly for 3 weeks into our yard.
Some nights hooting quite often. This is not something we had before except 20
years ago, and only 1 night.
Was this experience difficult to express in words?
No
Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the
deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them?
Yes
Did you hear the deceased or hear something
associated with the deceased?
No
Did you feel a touch or experience any physical
contact from the deceased?
No
Did you see the deceased?
No
Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance
or odor associated with the deceased?
No
How long did the experience last?
1st lasted only 5
minutes. 2nd lasted over 3 weeks.
Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?
1st was sudden. Birds in the road were unexpected.
2nd was gradual and nightly.
Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?
No
Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?
No
How do you currently view the reality of your experience?
Experience was
probably real
Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not
real:
The only noticing was from my daughter and children
reminding me of Tom sending me 'messages' through the birds that he was with me
and the correlation that these were very unusual happenings to NOT notice. Only
after did I remember how Tom and I had talked about birds on occasion.
Was the experience dream like in any way?
No
Describe in detail
your feelings/emotions during the experience:
When my daughter mentioned this was probably Tom sending me what he could, I
felt a sense of him watching over me. Relief and disbelief coupled with wanting
to believe but not sure.
Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?
Uncertain
It gave me a moment to consider that he was around. But where is he? How?
Some questions formed in my mind.
What was the best and worst part of your experience?
Best: I know he's trying to reach me.
Worst: I doubt and need to know he is with me often. Others tell me to let go,
but this is our choice to remain with the other. No one gets a say in the
matter, regardless of their beliefs or 'authority'. Very irritating and annoying
when they cannot tell me why I must let go. NEVER letting him go - and he is not
merely a 'memory' to me.
Has your life changed specifically as a result of
your experience?
Yes
Describe:
With each ADC, it shifts my perceptions and answers my questions about the
afterlife and my loved one. Books can't answer everything. Only freewill and
experiences can offer our personal answers.
Did you have any
changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
Yes The deceased
do increase their capabilities of shifting or altering energy and matter over
time to be unmistakably recognized by those on the earth.
Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life,
death, afterlife, God, etc.?
Yes I realized he
was somewhere and aware at some level. I also entertained the idea that the
deceased love ones could communicate immediately after death, in spite of what
people say about not being able to communicate with the deceased for a period of
3 months to a year. Some will say they only stay around until their funeral.
There are no definitive answers to what our deceased love ones decide to do or
not.
Yes
I had 1 witness to the 1st event; 5 witnesses besides myself to the 2nd
experience (owl).
What emotions did you feel during the experience?
I went back to feeling
extreme grief and shock over his death.
Was the experience witnessed or experienced by others?
Yes
My daughter
Did you have any sense of altered space or time?
Yes
On the first experience I was feeling like my whole being was not in this
world. But that may have been shock as well as the implications of our souls,
bodies and minds being separated by death as well.
Did you have a sense of knowing, special
knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?
No
Did you become aware of future events?
No
Did you have any psychic, paranormal or other
special gifts following the experience that you did not have prior to the
experience?
Yes
I have been more sensitive to intentions of others.
Did you experience a separation of your
consciousness from your body?
No
Did you see a light?
No
Did any part of your experience seem to occur in a
place other than the location described above?
No
Have you shared this experience with others?
Yes
'Wow, That was Tom telling you he's here'.
They too were able to see that it's part of life on earth and how wonderful to
keep in touch beyond the barrier of death.
Have you shared this experience formally or informally with any other
researcher or web site?
No
Is there anything else you would
like to add regarding your experience?
There are more experiences as time went on where they become more obvious he is
with me.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION 2456:
I
think my anger about all that's happened to me caught up with me and I lost it
on my children for not protecting me in my vulnerable moments of shock,
devastation and attacks by family and some well-meaning and not so well-meaning
friends. I was on my bed group-texting my kids about my feelings and what they
did and didn't do to help me; how alone I felt in fending off ill-intentioned
people when I had no fight in me to stop them. I felt betrayed by the world.
After a few hours of this (bad, I know), I smelled lilies all around me. I got
up to sniff around and nothing away from where I was sitting - no fans running,
and I hadn't showered or cleaned my bed in days, nor have candles in my room, so
it wasn't anything wafting through the room. Went back to my spot on the bed,
and smelled the lilies there. I was still upset, but this made me stop and
realize that the only person who got me lilies was Tom. He would bring them home
from the grocery store when I was sick or having a rough time in life. He know I
loved lilies.
Was this experience difficult to express in words?
No
Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the
deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them?
No
Did you hear the deceased or hear something
associated with the deceased?

communicated:
I heard his words in my dream.
Did the voice or sound seem to
originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice
or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?
In my dream. His voice.
If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar
from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?
Similar
Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other
source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?
No
Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time
of the experience?
N/A
Did you feel a touch or experience any physical
contact from the deceased?
No
Did you see the deceased?
No
Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance
or odor associated with the deceased?
Yes
What smell, scent, fragrance or odor did you smell?
Lilies. Only Tom bought them for me because he knew how much I loved their
smell.
Was the smell, scent, fragrance or odor familiar?
Absolutely
Was anything communicated by the smell?
That he knows I was having a rough moment and felt
alone and betrayed by the world. That he hadn't betrayed me or left me and
totally understood what I was going through.
Is there any possibility that the smell, scent, fragrance or odor was
from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your
experience?
No. I checked and sniffed every possible area - of
which there was none.
How long did the experience last?
5 minutes
Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?
Gradual
Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?
Yes
I sensed his compassion and understanding.
Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?
I realized with this smell there was independent action for me from Tom. He was
thinking of a way to help me know he was there. And I never sensed him at all,
still believing up to this point that maybe he wasn't around during all this,
obviously, because I didn't see or hear him with my 5 senses.
How do you currently view the reality of your experience?
Experience was
definitely real
Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not
real:
The smell was all around me and clearly as if there
were real lilies. It lingered for 5 minutes so there was no mistaking what my
nose knows.
Was the experience dream like in any way?
No
It was a dream, but the first dream I had of him.
Describe in detail
your feelings/emotions during the experience:
Being that I was angry, it made me pause and back off.
Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?
Yes
I realized that Tom is still around, watching, caring about me. I also
realized I need to not let my anger get the best of me on the only people who
stayed by my side through all this time.
What was the best and worst part of your experience?
Best: I got flowers!
Has your life changed specifically as a result of
your experience?
Yes
Describe:
All my ADC's are changing my life. His death changed my life. I feel I'm living
with one foot in this world and one foot in the next, yet in limbo because I'm
not fully in either. I am not afraid of death. I have only been afraid of what
happens prior to death that makes us die - PAIN.
As for God, I was leaning on being atheist until Tom's passing. As I sort through things in my mind, I realize more and more there is a Divine presence behind all life.
Did you have any
changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
Yes Stated
previously.
Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life,
death, afterlife, God, etc.?
Yes Pause and look
at others with the eyes of love and understanding, not in the worst possible
light.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION 2457:
I
was missing Tom and began smelling his clothes and crying. I went from his
closet to his drawers. Same thing. I then decided to look through his drawers.
One thing led to another and started cleaning up some of his papers, forgetting
my tears. I found a card he had bought for me that he forgot to give me. As I
was reading it the thought occurred to me that it said exactly what I would have
said to him, but it was unsigned and with its envelope so it wasn't from me. He
probably forgot to give it to me with our hectic schedule. I showed my daughter
the unsigned card. I keep it on my dresser as his gift to me. It came at a good
time because I had been feeling the need to hear his words to me.
