My
friend Diane had passed away from Cystic Fibrosis in February of 1999 after I
had known her for about 6 years. We
had celebrated our birthdays together a few times since mine was on 4/18 and
hers was on 4/23. On the birthday
right after she had passed, I had gotten home fairly early since it was a work
night and was getting ready for bed.
When I got in bed and turned to fix my blankets, near the foot of the bed was a
bright pulsating orb of light... like a sun.
Not a small orb, but about the size of a dessert plate.
And it was not static... it had what I can only describe as waves of
light undulating off of it... almost like flames would move... but it was light.
One would think you might get up and run out of the room seeing something
like this but I was unable to take my eyes off it. And it wasn't just the way it
looked... it was the feeling that it emanated. It was a feeling that does not
exist on this earth.. at least not the I have experienced. A feeling of pure
love, joy, acceptance, peace... every positive emotion multiplied by 100.
I sat there in awe... I couldn't move...I was totally fixated on it.
And then just like that it was gone. But not in a flash... it sort of
collapsed in on itself and faded away.
The whole experience lasted about 30 seconds. But it was 30 seconds that
changed my life. I have been trying
to figure out and make sense of what I saw for the last 25 years. I now have no
fear of death if I am going to the place where that came from.
I truly believe that it was my friend Diane coming to say happy birthday
to me and let me know she was okay.
The next day I told my sister about it, I still lived with my parents at the
time, and together we stood in my room and tried to debunk it.
But where the house is there are no streetlights or houses close by that
could have cast that light in my room.
And like I said, it was moving the entire time.. not still.
I rarely tell this story to anyone because they look at me like I am
crazy.. and I get that. Unless you experience it for yourself, I guess it does
sound pretty crazy.
