I was sleeping very soundly. My father who had been deceased for several years came to visit during my sleep time. I knew it was more than a dream. My dreams are usually very vivid and I have enough spiritual experience to know the difference between a regular dream and a spiritual visit. We spent quality time together and he let me know how much he loved me. The whole experience was to let me know that he loved me. He put his arms around me and let me know that I was very much loved. I had never had much loving attention from my parents as a child. It was mostly from my grandparents on both sides of the family. I awoke with a feeling of happiness knowing I had connected with my father during the sleep state.
I have had quite a few
spiritual experiences during the sleep state and record any dreams that are
significant. I have been doing this for years and can access them any time I
want in my files.
Was this
experience difficult to express in words?
No
Did you ONLY sense
an awareness of presence of the deceased without actually seeing, hearing,
feeling or smelling them?
No
Did you hear the
deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?
Yes
Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:
Mostly the
communication was a feeling of much love. He may have "talked" to me but I
don't remember the exact words.
Did
the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you,
or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was
communicated? A
sense of knowing or feeling the communication very strongly.
Is
there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the
surroundings at the time of your experience?
NO, I was alone early A
M and there were no outside sounds to interfere.
Was
there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?
no.
Did you feel a
touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?
Yes
I felt his arms
around me and felt a loving touch.
Was
the touch familiar or unfamiliar?
Familiar. As a very
young child my dad was the most concerned about my emotional well being.
Was
anything communicated by the touch?
Love
Is
there any possibility what you felt was from any other source present in the
surroundings at the time of your experience?
NO
Did you see the
deceased?
No
He appeared as he
did in his physical existence. He always was particular about how he looked and
was very well groomed. My father was an extremely handsome man and physically
in good shape when he was younger and that was how he appeared.
How
clearly did the deceased appear?
As solid as you or me.
How
much of the deceased did you see?
I saw all of him. He
appeared as if he had just walked into the room.
Did
the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?
He appeared somewhat
younger although my dad never looked his age.
How
healthy did the deceased appear to be?
He was in good health
and seemed very well.
Is
there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in the
surroundings at the time of your experience?
NO
Did you smell a
distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?
No
How long did the
experience last?
I'm not certain
of the time frame but at the time it seemed a sufficient amount of time. It was
as if he was in no hurry to leave me.
Was the beginning
and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?
He came suddenly
and left gradually. Not disappeared just left but it did not
appear to be abrupt.
Could you sense the
emotions or mood of the deceased?
Yes
I felt great love
for me and wanting to comfort me and know I was loved.
Did the deceased
give you information you did not previously know?
Not so much
spoken words as he wanted to let me know how much he really cared for me. I
guess I was uncertain about that, as I was the oldest of 6 and the only girl and
my brothers always seemed to be the favored siblings.
How do you
currently view the reality of your experience?
Experience was
definitely real
Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not
real:
As I stated before I have had many spiritual experiences in my lifetime and have
been able to discern which are real and which are not. I studied many years
about life after death after my own NDE many years ago. The experience was very
helpful to me in many ways.
Was
the experience dream like in any way?
No
Describe in
detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:
I was happy to be
spending time with my dad as he had passed unexpectadly just 4 days before
Christmas in 2004 and I did not have the opportunity to communicate with him
before he died. My brother and
his wife found him on
the floor of his bedroom when they took his dinner into him in the evening.
Was there any
emotional healing in any way following the experience?
Yes
Yes as far as my
uncertainty about how he felt about me. Even though he told me he loved me, I
still did not feel confident about it.
What was the best
and worst part of your experience?
The best part was
spending time with him again. The worst part is I wish it was more often.
Has your life
changed specifically as a result of your experience?
No
Describe:
I still make my
choices based on circumstances around me and the people around me and whatever
they are dealing with.
Did you have
any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
No
My attitude stayed the same. My brother, who is affiliated with an orthodox
religion, was skeptical.
Did the experience
give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God,
etc.?
Yes
I already had that understanding so it was not a great revelation to me.
Death Compacts
are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever dies
first will try to contact the other(s). Have you ever made such a
compact?
Yes
With friends who
believe the same way I do.
Did you observe or
hear anything regarding people or events during your experience that could be
verified later?
No
I did not hear anything or see anything. I just recorded my dream as I usually
do when I have an unusual dream sequence.
What emotions did
you feel during the experience?
Peace and happiness.
Was the experience
witnessed or experienced by others?
No
Did you have any
sense of altered space or time?
No
Did you have a
sense of knowing, special knowledge, universal order and/or purpose?
Yes
Yes, but I know that
anyway.
Did you become
aware of future events?
No
Did you have any
psychic, paranormal or other special gifts following the experience that you did
not have prior to the experience?
Yes
Yes, I have had many
unusual or psychic experiences. Too numerous to mention here.
Did you experience
a separation of your consciousness from your body?
No
I did not have to
experience that separation to have the feeling of love from him.
Did you meet or see
any other beings other than the deceased?
No
Did you see a
light?
No
Did any part of
your experience seem to occur in a place other than the location described
above?
Uncertain
I'm not sure where I
was but it felt like a good place.
Have you shared
this experience with others?
Yes
Yes, some people are ok with it but I don't think my brothers are ok with it.
How dare I say I had an experience they may not have had. That's alright
though, I understand where they are coming from. My connection with dad was
entirely different from theirs.
Have you shared
this experience formally or informally with any other researcher or web site?
No
Is there anything
else you would like to add regarding your experience?
This was a great
experience and one I love sharing. It is one of many in a long line of
afterlife or unusual experiences that I have had during my lifetime. Life for
me has been very difficult but I have no regrets.
Were there any
associated medications or substances with the potential to affect the
experience?
No
Following the
experience, have you had any other events in your life, medications or
substances which reproduced any part of the experience?
No
This was not a
medically induced experience. I have had only one hallucination and that was
after surgery many years ago when I was flying around the room
Nothing ever scary that
I can remember.
Did you ever in
your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other
spiritual event?
Yes
A near death
experience after being assaulted and left to fend for myself when I was only 22
and with two young children. It is a long story and there is not enough room to
go into it here, but I knew there was no death after it happened and it changed
my life dramatically.
Did the questions
asked and information you provided accurately and comprehensively describe your
experience?
Yes
I realize it is hard
to convey the dream experience and make people understand it was not "just a
dream." But I KNOW the experience was very real. I have enough knowledge of the
afterlife situation to know the difference.
Please offer any suggestions you may have to improve this questionnaire. It seemed as if all the questions were good as far as getting the information needed.
