I
was in bed by myself, the bedroom light was on. I was talking out loud, I was
scolding Michael (my deceased husband) for not having communicated with me. I
was telling him I wanted to know if he was OK. I suddenly saw some white smoke
coming out from the night table (or so I thought). I was concerned about the
possibility of a fire and I checked the three drawers of the night table but
found nothing out of the ordinary. After a while I went to sleep.
The morning after I went riding my bike as usual. I was listening to the radio
and heard a song I had never heard before. (Remember that I was born and raised
in another country where English is not spoken). The song, however, called my
attention because it described my husband's life exactly. Everything matched,
almost word by word. The song's name is OLD HIPPIE from the Bellamy Brothers.
I
saw the white smoke coming out from the night table (or so I thought) in two
other occasions, but couldn't find the origin of this phenomenon.
Was this experience difficult to express in words?
No
Did you ONLY sense an awareness of presence of the
deceased without actually seeing, hearing, feeling or smelling them?
No
Did you hear the deceased or hear something
associated with the deceased?
Yes
Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was
communicated:
I heard on the radio the song 'Old Hippie' by the
Bellamy Brothers. I had never heard it before and it described my husband's life
and feelings at the time of his death exactly and in detail.
Did the voice or sound seem to
originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice
or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?
Yes, the song originated outside of me, on the
radio. I went home and looked it up in internet. It was Michael's life. I knew
this was the way he had found to let me know he was OK.
If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar
from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?
No, it didn't sound
like my deceased husband. The song was interpreted by the Bellamy Brothers.
Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other
source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?
The source of the song was my little radio.
Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time
of the experience?
No.
Did you feel a touch or experience any physical
contact from the deceased?
No
Did you see the deceased?
Uncertain
I saw a white, wispy, smoke column coming out from a night table. I
couldn't find the origin of this smoke, despite the fact that I checked the
night table three drawers contents thoroughly.
How clearly did the deceased appear?
White, wispy smoke column.
How much of the deceased did you see?
Did not see the deceased as himself, but a white, wispy smoke column with
undetermined origin.
Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which
they died?
Did not see the deceased as himself, but a white,
wispy smoke column with undetermined origin.
How healthy did the deceased appear to be?
Did not see the deceased as himself, but a white, wispy smoke column with
undetermined origin.
Is there any possibility what you saw was from any other
source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?
No. I checked thoroughly the contents of the night table where it seemed the
white, wispy smoke column was originating from.
Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance
or odor associated with the deceased?
No
How long did the experience last?
A couple of minutes.
Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?
I saw the smoke from the corner of my eye, when I got up to check its origin, it
disappeared.
Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?
No
Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?
The information provided by my deceased husband through the song 'Old Hippie'
was actually a confirmation of his life, of his feelings at the time of his
death.
How do you currently view the reality of your experience?
Experience was
definitely real
Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not
real:
Because I can not rationally explain the origin of
the white smoke column I saw in at least two opportunities, plus the
'coincidence' of listening a song I had never heard before and that closely
resembles my husband's life and feelings at the time of his death.
Was the experience dream like in any way?
No
Describe in detail
your feelings/emotions during the experience:
Initially I was puzzled when I saw the white, wispy column coming out of the
night table. Then I became concerned thinking it could be a fire. Finally I
turned surprised when I couldn't find the origin of the smoke.
Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?
Yes
Hearing the song OLD HIPPIE it was a confirmation that it came from Michael
and that reassured me he was OK. I could rest.
What was the best and worst part of your experience?
The worst part was when I thought there could be a fire (as the origin of
the unexplained white, wispy column of smoke).
The best part was when I confirmed that the message was coming from beyond and
that Michael was OK.
Has your life changed specifically as a result of
your experience?
No
Did you have any
changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
No
Did the experience give you any spiritual
understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?
Yes To me the whole
experience is an indication that there is something else after death. I can't or
don't want to explain all this incident based on 'coincidences'.
Death Compacts are when two or more living people promise among themselves that whoever
dies first will try to contact the other(s).
Have you ever made such a compact?
No
Did you observe or hear anything regarding people or events during your
experience that could be verified later?
No
What emotions did you
feel during the experience?
After the white smoke disappeared I went to sleep, but the morning after when I
heard the song in the radio, at first I couldn't believe it. I went home and
checked the song's lyrics in the internet. It was amazing how that song
resembled Michael's life and his feelings at the time of his death. Finally I
was jubilant, I was so very happy that Michael was now alright.
