My dad had
fought cancer for 5 years and by the time he died, there wasn't much left.
During his funeral, the family was sitting apart from everyone else. This room
had a door that opened & closed twice during the ceremony. According to the
funeral director, this door could only be opened from inside our room, so that
no one could come in during a service. We checked - no handle outside. No one
was near the door both times it opened & closed.
After we got to the cemetery for the service there, it started raining. The
family was seated under tents and as others there tried to crowd around, the
back corner of the tent collapsed and spilled a tremendous amount of water on
the mourners. We knew then that it was my dad - he would have gotten a huge
laugh out of that!
Then every day after that for a week, our lights (only in the kitchen) would
blink and strobe when we sat down for supper. My mom said that she could smell
his cologne very strong for about 2 weeks after he died. I was crushed when I
lost my dad, and can only believe that he was letting us know that he was OK and
finally felt good again.
=============
My collie, CJ died on 8/16/02. We had just lost a dog 3 weeks prior in an accident. After she died, CJ seemed to give up and died peacefully at home with us. We were devastated! When we buried him, there was a yellow & black butterfly that lit on a cedar tree beside us and watched the whole process - digging the hole, burying him, etc. Flew away when it was over with. Next evening we heard this high pitched bark at the door (that CJ only did when he was glad to see us). We looked outside only to find our other dog sound asleep on the porch. Next morning, the same thing - CJ's high pitched "happy" bark - looked outside and again, the other dog was sound asleep.
CJ died and was buried on Saturday - The barking started on Sunday and happened again on Monday.
Tuesday at
work a yellow & black butterfly flew in my office and landed on my desk. I
almost lost it because there are no flowers - no nothing near our building that
would attract a butterfly. It was so freaky that if I hadn't had a witness, I
wouldn't have told anyone.
On Wednesday, my husband was leaving his terminal (in an 18-wheeler). A yellow &
black butterfly flew up to his window and fluttered by his side. It stayed with
the truck by the window until he pulled out of the parking lot and onto the
highway. It was really starting to freak us out by now.
CJ was our watch dog, and I wondered what we would do now. Thursday night I
dreamed that the sheriff dept called me home from my job where they had a
would-be burglar in their car. They asked me questions, one of which was if I
had a collie. I started crying and told them that I had one, but he had just
died. The burglar was cursing in the back of the police cruiser and kept cursing
the collie that had jumped on him and had "eat him up" I woke up crying, but not
worrying anymore, because I felt like he was still watching over our place.
You can blame coincidence for a while, but after a while you just have to deal
with the truth! I'm feeling such peace, but am also pretty freaked out - This
stuff is Real!!!
