Experience description:

Adelle was like a spiritual mother to me and while she was alive I could feel her love like a blanket wrapped around me all the time.  She was the most remarkable and amazing woman I have ever known thus far.  She had cancer and I hadn't seen her in a month and it had been at least a week since I spoke to her on the phone.  I was getting ready for work and putting makeup on in front of the bathroom mirror when all of a sudden she was in the bathtub talking to me (sort of in my head but I totally heard/understood what she was saying) and I could recognize her presence.  So I am standing there staring at the bathtub and she said, "I have come to say goodbye.  I have a lot of work to do.  I am very busy. Just keep on going like you are and you will be fine.  I won't visit you again.  I have a lot of work to do."  Then she was gone. HER HUSBAND CALLED ME THAT NIGHT after I came home AND TOLD ME THAT SHE HAD DIED IN THE night before I had the visit. I never had another visit or dream of her.  I missed her so much for a long time and I will never forget feeling the presence of her love while she lived.

Was this experience difficult to express in words?  No

Did you hear the deceased or hear something associated with the deceased?          Yes

Describe what you heard, how clearly you heard it and what was communicated:    I actually heard her speak words but not like we do --but I heard what she said -- see above for content. I heard/understood distinctly and still remember it now.

Did the voice or sound seem to originate externally or outside of you, inside you, or did you not hear a voice or sound, but had a sense of knowing what was communicated?  Both external and internal at the same time -- hard to really explain.

If you heard a voice or sound, was it similar or dissimilar from the voice or sound the deceased made when they were alive?           The same.

Is there any possibility what you heard was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?           Absolutely not.

Was there any possible impairment to your hearing at the time of the experience?   No

Did you feel a touch or experience any physical contact from the deceased?            No

Did you see the deceased?         Yes

It was more like her presence was in the bathtub and I knew it but I really couldn't see a corporeal body. There was no mistaking that it was her.

How clearly did the deceased appear?            Felt her presence -- kind of like seeing because she was standing in the bathtub. I kept looking in the bathtub to see her.

How much of the deceased did you see?       All except her feet.

Did the deceased appear or not appear to be the age at which they died?       Can't really say because it was so much as a presence.

How healthy did the deceased appear to be?            Healthy and active.

Is there any possibility what you saw was from any other source present in the surroundings at the time of your experience?           Laughable question -- the answer is no.

Did you smell a distinct smell, scent, fragrance or odor associated with the deceased?      No

How long did the experience last?        Brief -- maybe a minute or two at the most.

Was the beginning and end of the experience gradual or more sudden?         Both were unexpected and rather sudden but not abrupt.

Could you sense the emotions or mood of the deceased?           Yes

She3 had come to say goodbye because she felt I needed that and to let me know that she had a lot of work to do.  I really believe she came so I would know that there is an afterlife.

Did the deceased give you information you did not previously know?  The only things she said was that she had a lot of work to do and she wouldn't visit me again and she never has.

How do you currently view the reality of your experience?           Experience was definitely real

Please explain why you view the reality of your experience as real or not real:           I had no knowledge at all that she was that sick and close to death.  I had the visit which at the time I thought was really strange.  Then I received the call from her husband telling me had died so I knew that she had visited me afterwards.

Was the experience dream like in any way?   No

Describe in detail your feelings/emotions during the experience:           wonder.  I had never had anything like this and it was all too strange.  I felt her, saw her and heard her and it impressed on my mind but I just went to work and had a normal day and then later her husband called.  Then I was amazed that I had had the visit.

Was there any emotional healing in any way following the experience?           No

What was the best and worst part of your experience?      That she said goodbye was the best and there was no worst.

Has your life changed specifically as a result of your experience?         No

Did you have any changes of attitudes or beliefs following the experience?
   No

Did the experience give you any spiritual understandings such as life, death, afterlife, God, etc.?
Yes            Definitely believe that earthly life is temporary and there is eternal life with identity.

Did you ever in your life have a near-death experience, out of body experience or other spiritual event?           Yes

I have had a few significant spiritual events. I have had two out of body experiences. When I was 14 I had a pneumonia that kills you and I was in the hospital for 2 weeks.  I remember once that I had to go to the bathroom and I was hovering above my body somewhere. I, from a distance, had to make the body get out of the bed and go and it was really hard because I wasn't there and the body was so very heavy.  The second one was when I was at the Paramount theater in Seattle at a Judy Collins concert in the 1970's. We were sitting in the center of a very high balcony so all I could see was the top of her head and a little bit of an angle -- very far away.  All of a sudden I had a floating sensation and I was looking right into her crystal clear blue eyes directly in front of her (and she was looking directly back at me)!  I had the thought, "From where I am sitting I can't be seeing her this way." Right away I slammed back into my body and was sick to my stomach for the rest of the night.
